Cookie Policy
Just like in our services, we use cookies responsibly and with care
This Cookie Policy (the "Policy") explains how Hello Kellyco (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit any of our websites (“Websites”). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them. Any terms defined in the Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy have the same meaning when used in this Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device as you are browsing. They are processed and stored by your web browser. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information and personalized experiences. Cookies can also generally be easily viewed and deleted.
Some cookies transmit data back to us or third party hosts, while others are local storage items that do not transmit any data. Cookies may be set by us or by third parties to serve content or provide advertising or analytics services to our Websites.
Classifying Cookies
In general, there are four different ways to classify cookies: what purpose they serve, how long they endure, their provenance, and their storage method.
Duration
Cookie duration is classified in two different ways:
- Session cookies. These cookies are temporary and expire once you close your browser (or once your session ends).
- Persistent cookies. This category encompasses all cookies that remain on your hard drive until you erase them or your browser does, depending on the cookie’s expiration date.
Provenance
Cookies can originate from different sources and are classified in two ways:
- First-Party Cookies. As the name implies, "First-Party Cookies" are put on your device directly by the Websites you are visiting.
- Third-Party Cookies. These are the cookies that are placed on your device, not by the Websites you are visiting, but by a third party like an advertiser or an analytic system to enable third party features or functionalities.
Purpose
There are four main ways of classifying cookies:
- Strictly Necessary cookies. These cookies are essential for the operation of our Websites. They enable core functions such as secure browsing, load balancing, and remembering your cookie consent preferences. They are exempt from the prior-consent requirement under the ePrivacy rules (Article 5(3)) because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you request (viewing and navigating the site). Where these cookies process personal data (such as an IP address), we rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) to ensure the security and functionality of the site.
- Preferences cookies. Also known as “functionality cookies,” these cookies remember choices you make (language, region, theme). They are not essential and are only set with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can accept or refuse these cookies at any time in your cookie preferences.
- Statistics cookies. Also known as “performance" or "analytics" cookies, these cookies collect information about how visitors use our Websites to help us improve them. Where analytics data is not irreversibly anonymized, we rely on your consent (Art.6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Marketing cookies. These cookies track your online activity to help advertisers deliver more relevant advertising or to limit how many times you see an ad. They may be set by third parties and may involve profiling and cross-site tracking. We only set these cookies with your explicit consent (Art.6(1)(a) GDPR). You can accept or refuse them in the cookie settings.
These are the main ways of classifying cookies, although there are cookies that will not fit neatly into these categories or may qualify for multiple categories. When people complain about the privacy risks presented by cookies, they are generally speaking about third-party, persistent, marketing cookies. These cookies can contain significant amounts of information about your online activity, preferences, and location.
Storage
We also distinguish between traditional cookies, which are sent to the server with every request, and browser-based storage technologies like local storage or session storage. These methods store data directly in your browser and are not automatically transmitted to our servers.
- Traditional cookies. These are small files stored on your device that can be sent back to the server each time you load a page.
- Local storage and session storage. They also consist of small files but store information only in your browser. They allow us to retain preferences (like theme settings) or status data (like whether you’ve dismissed a pop-up), but this data stays on your device unless you take an action that sends it to us (e.g., submitting a form).
You can view and delete this stored data using your browser’s developer tools, typically under the “Application” or “Storage” tab.
What cookies do we use?
Below is a non-exhaustive list of cookies we may use:
Note: Third-party services such as browser extensions may place their own cookies. We do not control these cookies. Please refer to the third party’s privacy policies.
How can you control cookies?
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can exercise your cookie preferences through:
- Our cookie banner (shown when you first visit)
- The cookie preferences link available at the bottom of our Website at any time
- Your browser settings. You can configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies
Please note that blocking some types of cookies may impact your experience on the Websites and the Services we can offer.
Legal basis
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Portuguese Law no. 41/2004, we are required to:
- Obtain your prior consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device (e.g., analytics or marketing cookies).
- Give you the option to withdraw your consent at any time.
- Clearly explain what cookies we use and why (as stated in this Policy).
We rely on legitimate interest for Strictly Necessary cookies and consent for all others.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our data practices. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on our Websites.
